Surprise! You’re fired…
My usual response to situations like these would be to worry or cry even, but this time; this time was different. Color me brave! Damn straight I am!
For more context, I was recently relieved of my duties where I worked as a Social media content manager. Well, It’s not news that a lot of businesses have been greatly affected by the country’s economic decline. You can already connect the dots; the company where I worked was affected, and as expected the response was a permanent closure, hence my automatic unemployment. So you get it now yeah?
I no go lie e pain me! though I caught wind of it happening but nothing prepared me for it still. Starting the year unemployed wasn’t exactly part of my itinerary for 2024 but rather than wallow in sorrow, I’m choosing to look on the bright side. I strongly believe bigger opportunities await me and I can’t wait to dive right in.
Unemployment is a global issue that affects people of different ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and nationalities. It has its advantages and disadvantages, depending on one’s perspective, type of unemployment (like in my case company closure), and how long it lasts.
On one hand, unemployment may appear to be a curse; especially since our not-so-good friend SAPA [lack of money] may likely follow. On the other hand, unemployment can be a blessing in disguise as entrepreneurs are birthed from unemployment and also being unemployed provides one with ample time to reflect on career objectives and personal goals.
With that being said, if you’re going through a similar experience or worse I’d like to encourage you or at least try to uplift your spirits. Life is full of surprises and half of the time we’re unprepared, regardless of the hurdles we always pull through don’t we? So my loves, it’s ok to brood over a sad situation but not for long, be open to bigger opportunities they’ll come sooner than you expect.
So now that the issue of my unemployment has been established, please note that I’m open to voiceover gigs, content creation, social media management, writing, and modeling gigs as well.
